Sales Series: Professionalism & Stepping Into “Capital B Business”
What: Sales Series — Part 1
Who: PNWFC Membership
Where: Online via Zoom
When: May 25, 2026 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Why: In this funny, but loving, seminar, we’re going to remind you that you are a Fiber Professional, so let’s start acting like it! As a business owner, you are part of the economic ecosystem that is commerce. How you move in that ecosystem not only determines your success, but also affects others — consumers, businesses, and the entire circular supply system.
In this seminar, we’ll cover three critical elements of business professionalism that have a real impact on the profitability and success of your business:
Building Your Network - Even if you’re an introvert, you still need a business network! We’ll cover ways to build a great network without having to go to cocktail parties or be sales-y.
Building Collaborations Across the Supply Chain - One of the best ways to ensure your success is by developing a resilient business, which includes knowing how to build collaborations within and beyond your business.
Being a Part of the Larger Picture - Learn how to see yourself as a critical part of the PNW fiber ecosystem (whether you’re a farmer, a dyer, a miller, or any other type of fiber professional!) and how your work in the regional fiber economy can lift up both your business and the economy at large.
Part 1: Professionalism & Stepping Into “Capital B Business”
Many folks in our PNW fiber economy start with passion and determination, not always a business degree. Many folks tread humbly, saying, “Oh this? This is just a hobby — I just love wool!” No matter how your business started, it is important to the health of the entire PNW natural fibers & textile ecosystem that you treat yourself and your business professionally.
In this seminar, we will discuss what it means to be a Fiber Professional and ways to step into your role within the concept of the whole PNW fiber economy. In one way or another, your community may actually depend on it.
Part 2: Merchandising & Booth Design
Sometimes small changes to your product presentation can make all the difference when it comes to sales. In this seminar, we will examine how the manner in which you set up your shop or booth at events can effect sales and look at some examples of effective & successful booth design.
